Durban is home to one of the largest populations of people of Indian descent outside of India and is famous throughout South Africa for it's spice market and fabulous curries. A particular Durban innovation, in the world of curry, is the Bunny Chow, an innovative take out. The top is cut off a loaf of white bread and the insides are scooped out, leaving the walls thick enough to hold liquid. The hollow is then filled with your choice of curry, the top replaced and away you go, to eat on the beach, scooping out the fragrant meal with bits of bread and jumping into the ocean to wash off after your messy but magnificent curry experience.

We've named our South African style curry, Durban Curry, in honour of this unique culture and feel that it blends perfectly in a wide range of South African style dishes, delivering a good heat kick balanced nicely with the sweetness of cardamom. Using fruit, especially apricots, with your vegetables or meat dishes brings out the full flavour of our Durban Curry and creates curries true to the spirit of this heady cuisine.
